Steel is an advanced material which can be used to create tools and Armor, and comes in a few different varieties: Steel, Black Steel, Red Steel, and Blue Steel.
In order to create steel, you must first create Pig Iron in a Blast Furnace, and cast it into Ingots.

A Pig Iron Ingot can then be worked in an anvil to create a High Carbon Steel ingot, which can be worked again to create a Steel Ingot
Black Steel is an advanced form of steel formed from an alloy of steel and some other metals. In order to create it, you will need to create an alloy called Weak Steel in a Crucible.
Requirements:
Molten Weak Steel can be cast into ingots.
Recipe: tfc:welding/high_carbon_black_steel_ingot
Weak Steel Ingots can then be welded with Pig Iron Ingots to create High Carbon Black Steel Ingots. Finally, these can be worked on an Anvil to create Black Steel Ingots.
Black Steel can be used to craft tools and Armor, and also is used as a key ingredient in the creation of Blue Steel and Red Steel.
Blue Steel is one of the two highest tier metals, along with Red Steel. Similar to Black Steel, the first step is to create an alloy of Weak Blue Steel in a Crucible.

Weak Blue Steel Ingots can be welded with Black Steel Ingots to create High Carbon Blue Steel Ingots. Finally, these can be worked on an Anvil to create Blue Steel Ingots.
Blue Steel can be used to create tools and Armor, and a Blue Steel Bucket, which can be used to transport 1000 mB of both liquid fluids, and Lava.
