Gems

Gems can be ground into powder using a Quern. Gem powders are particularly useful in Coloring Glass.
Through Sluicing and Panning, Cut Gems can be obtained. The gem that can be obtained with the sluice is tied to the rock type of the deposit being processed.
Gems have higher Hardness values than regular ore, requiring different strength tools to break them. This summarizes the minimum Pickaxe tier required to break a gem ore block:
